Mehr über Luxor

Luxor, a city on the eastern bank of the Nile in Egypt, is known for its impressive history dating back to ancient Thebes. This city was once the religious and cultural center of the New Kingdom (ca. 1550-1070 BC). Luxor is home to some of the most magnificent temples and monuments of the ancient world, including the Karnak Temple, considered the greatest religious building of antiquity, and the Luxor Temple, built under the pharaohs Amenophis III and Ramses II. The monumental buildings, adorned with hieroglyphic inscriptions and colossal statues, bear witness to the splendor and wealth of the pharaonic era.

In addition to the temples on the east bank of the Nile, the legendary tombs in the Valley of the Kings are located on the west bank, including the world-famous tomb of Tutankhamun. This necropolis served as the final resting place of many pharaohs and nobles and is known for its elaborately decorated burial chambers and valuable grave goods. Luxor has retained its importance as an archaeological and tourist gem for thousands of years, a fact that has been confirmed time and again by numerous discoveries and restorations. The city embodies the heritage of ancient Egypt and offers a fascinating insight into one of the greatest civilizations in human history.
